Help For Heroes site goes live

Oakmeadians RFC will be hosting a spectacular international rugby event over the Easter Weekend. The event is being held to raise funds for the Help For Heroes (H4H) charity which provides support to servicemen and women wounded on operational duty. The H4H website was launched thise week and will provide reqular updates and can be accessed here..

This event combines a celebration of the military with a love for rugby union and pays tribute to our uniformed personnel who have served, and are serving, in theatres of conflict around the world.

Some very high-profile rugby names have already signed up to appear including World Cup winner Steve Thompson and former England internationals Mike Teague and Ben There will be two international standard rugby matches played - a women’s game featuring the British Lionesses vs the Combined Services, and a men’s match between a Returning Heroes Forces XV and an International XV.

On the military side, all three of the Armed Forces have agreed to provide personnel and equipment for displays and demonstrations and these will be a huge draw for our youngsters in particular

In addition to the rugby there will be a magnificent black tie Gala Dinner on the Saturday, children’s fairground, and a brilliant end of event party on the Sunday evening featuring live music, a disco and bar.

Every member of the club is welcome to contribute to this fantastic event. Indeed, your support will be required in many ways between now and Easter.
