Oakmeadians RFC are celebrating a double victory at the RFU's 02 Scrum on the Beach, Tag Tournaments in Bournemouth on Saturday 25th July and Weymouth on Saturday 1st August.
Oakmeadians teams included the Oaks Academy squad, the Oaks Colts, a Ladies under 18’s squad and a Barbarian side made up of mainly Oaks and invited Wimborne players.
The Academy squad, made up of Under 16’s and Colts who are being fast tracked in preparation for their inclusion in to the senior sides, were up against 15 teams in the afternoon competition and joined their own club mates from the Colts squad in the final.
A hard fought game resulted in a victory for the Academy side 5 to 3
This success followed Oak’s Colts triumph in the Bournemouth competition the week before when they beat a team called ‘The Brothers’ made up from a side from New Milton RFC. Oakmeadians have a record of success in theses tournaments having won the plate at the Bournemouth competition last year as well.
Oakmeadians coach Andy Barrett, who manages the players, was ‘delighted’ and believes that these successes will continue in to the forth coming season.
