For those of you who missed the message on the front page the other day...
I know the result in the cup match against Bournemouth was a little disappointing, however our Head Coach (Tom Drewett) identified a number of positive things to be taken from the occasion which I would like to share with everyone. The sheer pace and physicality of the game gave our guys a really good indication of what is required to step up to the next league. We have a very young team but with the right level of commitment we have players that are more than capable of competing at the higher level. In Tom we certainly have a Head Coach that can take them there. However it was the level of support from the spectators that astounded him the most. A match at 8:00pm on a freezing cold Friday night, against much stronger opponents against whom we were likely to struggle and all he could hear behind him was Oakmeadians voices.
And I quote ‘Who are all these people? Where did they come from? People I didn’t know kept buying me beer…. The support was unbelievable’.
Saturday is a big day for Oakmeadians, we have a major local derby against Swanage and Wareham and the guys need all the support we can give them. So get yourselves down to Meyrick Park on Saturday.
As an added incentive, the Ladies section are celebrating their 10th birthday with an exhibition match between players past and present.
Come one, come all, eat drink and be merry and scream you bloody heads off,
